Tornadoes are most abundant in Oklahoma! They are the strongest winds we know. Tornadoes are much more common in North America than on all other continents. We think this is because of the continent’s shape, and in particular because of the Gulf of Mexico which makes much of the southern states subject to warm, moist air masses that lead to strong thunderstorms.
