This day examines the environmental factors on earth that control the nature and frequency of natural hazards and the strategy of having sustainable, clean energy.  The two are related and require understanding of how earth systems function. Each location on earth has a environment which leads to particular hazards risk and particular energy opportunities.

Some environmental factors which govern hazards and potential energy sources:


Latitude, bedrock ages , bedrock types, proximity to plate boundaries, proximity to coastlines, rainfall, relief, geothermal gradient
