Natural Gas

Natural Gas is mainly methane or CH4.  This formula makes it lighter than other hydrocarbons and it also has lower carbon proportions per unit of energy generated.  It is volatile and can leak out of its containers easily.  It is a potent greenhouse gas. It is easily transported in pipelines and will generate heat without any electricity added (light a match). It is a non renewable gas, but is abundant, with large reserves as methane hydrates, frozen into the ocean floor sediments. Natural gas can power cars and it burns with less carbon dioxide per unit of energy. Compared to oil and coal, natural gas has a lower energy density.
