- Careful counting by The Web-Counter has revealed that the home page has been visited precisely 2000 times during the first six months of counting. Thanks to all who visited, and keep on checking!
- Stromboli's 4 September 1996 eruption is now visually documented: Antonio Di Sarno of Napoli submitted a photo (visible at left) taken a few minutes after the explosion which injured up to seven people. The photo was taken from the southeastern part of the village of Stromboli and shows a dissipating tephra plume in the upper left corner, and bushfires on the NE slope of the volcano. During the weekend, the summary of Stromboli's activity in 1996 will be updated, including info about the latest developments at the volcano.
- Osorno, another Chilean volcano, is now represented by two photos (taken by Werner Keller), pointing to a past (and possibly, future) disaster. More is coming soon!
