The level of activity at the Soufriere Hills volcano has been at about the same level during the night as during the previous 12 hours. Seismicity continues to be characterised by intermittent low amplitude broadband tremor recorded at the closest seismic stations to the volcano and several small-sized rockfalls. A few small long period and hybrid earthquakes were also recorded.
The low cloud cover over the volcano that has been present during the past two days continues.
The MVO still views the situation at the Soufriere Hills Volcano with grave concern and the scientists continue to urge that visits to the evacuated zone be kept to a minimum. The Tar River, Long Ground and Whites areas are extremely dangerous, and should not be entered under any circumstances.
