One (1) volcano-tectonic earthquake was located overnight; this occurred at a depth of approximately 2.5 km in the Long Ground area. Three (3) long-period events occurred which were recorded at most of the seismic stations of the network. Low amplitude broadband tremor was continuous on the Gages seismic station during the period 17:00 to 19:00 on 04 January but became intermittent and sparse afterwards. Many very small events were also recorded by the Gages seismic station only. One small regional earthquake occurred at 01:02 today but could not be located by the local seismic network.
The morning updates will be discontinued from today and will be restarted if the situation warrants that. Interesting situations developing at any time will continue to be reported as they unfold.
