Daily Report
Report for the period 16:00 on 21 December
to 16:00 on 22 December 1995

No earthquakes have been located by the local seismic network during this period. However, a regional event of magnitude 3.9 was recorded at 05:11 on 22 December. This was located approximately 50 km(30 miles) NE of Guadeloupe at a depth of 23km(15 miles). A total of 25 long-period earthquakes were recorded on most of the seismometers, but these could not be located. Small long-period earthquakes continue to be recorded at the Gages seismic station.

No EDM lines were measured today due to low cloud cover. GPS measurements were made at St George's Hill, Reid's Hill and Harris' Lookout. However, the results will not be processed until the end of the month.

Due to low cloud cover on the east side of the volcano, visual observations were limited to brief glimpses of the crater area from White's Yard. The large spine which had been growing over the past few days appears to have broken off in its upper part, although a second neighbouring spine is still intact.
