Volcanic activity has continued at about the same level over the last 24 hours. The MVO seismographs recorded 17 rockfall signals, 8 volcano-tectonic earthquakes and one hybrid event in the period. There were five episodes of enhanced seismic tremor associated with ash venting.
An inspection flight over the volcano just after midday showed that the vent in the central cleft through the dome above Tar River is continuing to produce most of the steam and ash.
COSPEC measurements made this morning indicated an SO2 flux of 804 tonnes/day.
Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio Montserrat for information relating to any further developments in the state of the volcano. The MVO wishes to apologise to listeners last evening for the absence of a report, which was caused by a technical problem.
