The activity at the volcano has remained at about the same level during the last 24 hours. The seismic networks recorded 14 rockfall signals and 15 volcano-tectonic earthquakes. The volcano-tectonic earthquakes mostly occurred in a swarm late this morning.
Better weather conditions today enabled MVO staff to make Cospec measurements of the gas in the volcanic plume. Results showed that there was an average of 900 tonnes per day of sulphur dioxide being emitted by the volcano.
Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio Montserrat for information relating to any further developments in the state of the volcano.
