Report for the period 5 p.m. 27 November to 5 p.m. 28 November 1998


The volcano remained quiet today. There were 21 rockfalls 4
volcano-tectonic earthquakes and one long period earthquake recorded by
the seismic network between 4 p.m. yesterday and 4 p.m. today. 

There was vigorous venting from a fumarole within the July 3rd scar,
which formed an ashy plume and carried a small amount of ash to the
north of the island.

Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio
Montserrat for information relating to any further developments in the
state of the volcano.
