From MVO@candw.ag Sun Dec 6 10:40:51 1998 Date: Sat, 28 Nov 1998 07:11:00 -0400 From: MVO To: "evening report:email" , "Willy (email) Aspinall" Subject: MVO evening report 27 Nov 1998 Montserrat Volcano Observatory Montserrat, W.I. Report for the period 5 p.m. 26 November to 5 p.m. 27 November 1998 The volcano remained quiet during the period under review. There were 14 rockfalls and 12 volcano-tectonic earthquakes recorded by the seismic network between 4 p.m. yesterday and 4 p.m. today. The current GPS survey was concluded today with the completion of station occupations at White's and South Soufriere Hill. During this afternoon, the wind dropped and gases being produced by the volcano drifted as a haze at low levels over southern, central and northern parts of the island. This gave rise to a number of reports to the MVO of sulphurous fumes at several places. It is expected that the smell will disappear once the wind regains some strength. Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio Montserrat for information relating to any further developments in the state of the volcano. 17:00, 27 November 1998 From MVO@candw.ag Sun Dec 6 10:41:02 1998 Date: Sat, 28 Nov 1998 07:11:00 -0400 From: MVO To: "evening report:email" , "Willy (email) Aspinall" Subject: MVO evening report 27 Nov 1998 Montserrat Volcano Observatory Montserrat, W.I.
