Activity at the volcano continued at a relatively low level today with 18 rockfalls, 1 hybrid and 5 volcano-tectonic earthquakes being recorded during the period. Mudflows were generated in the Belham Valley at 5:30 am. These were caused by an early morning thunderstorm and reached the sea at Old Road Bay.
COSPEC measurements made from the MV Shamrock II today gave a sulphur dioxide flux of 700 tonnes per day.
Dust levels today were low across the whole island.
Residents should continue listening to Radio Montserrat in case there are sudden developments in the state of the volcano.
