Daily Report
Report for the period 6pm 9 April
to 6pm 10 April 1998

The level of volcanic activity over the past 24 hours has been low with a reduction in the number of earthquakes since yesterday.

The elevated seismicity of yesterday had diminished by 9pm last night, most of the events recorded between 6pm and 9pm last night were very small and did not trigger the seismic system.

Between 4pm yesterday and 4pm today there were 3 volcano-tectonic earthquakes, 2 hybrid earthquakes and 6 rockfalls.

Visibility was poor again today and no visual observation of the dome was possible.

A new broadband seismometer was installed in the South Soufriere Hills today, further work needs to be done tomorrow on the telemetry before the station is fully up and running.

Dust levels at all monitoring stations were low today.

Residents are reminded to keep listening to Radio Montserrat for any further information.
