The volcano has been slightly less active today with fewer numbers of all events recorded. Between 16:00 yesterday and 16:00 today there were 19 hybrid earthquakes, 8 long period earthquakes, 16 volcano-tectonic earthquakes and 63 distinct rockfall signals. Three of the hybrid events preceded rockfalls.
The volcano was clear for some of the day and vigorous steam plumes were again seen coming from the new dome which now fills the December 26th collapse scar. A few small rockfall deposits were observed in Tuitt's Ghaut, but most rockfall activity was again on the Galways side of the dome.
Dust levels at all monitoring sites remained low today.
People should remain alert and listen to Radio Montserrat for further information.
