A substantial body of observational, geophysical and geochemical information has now been collected at MVO on the Soufriere Hills eruption. Yet because of the longevity of the eruption it is getting harder for individual workers to get an informed overview. The aim of this open, one-day scientific discussion meeting is to allow such an overview to be reached through a series of short (~20 min.) formal technical presentations covering all aspects of volcanological research at Montserrat. This should complement the poster-based session at the Jamaica conference next month. The deadline for abstracts (one page) is 8 November. There are currently no plans for a publication derived from the meeting. Registration is free for members of the Society, £5 for students and £10 for others.
