This section of the Volcanic Clouds Web Site is for people who are actually doing quantitative analysis of volcanic cloud remote sensing data. It is intended to provide step-by-step instructions for data analysis and example results for comparison. It does not cover theory and interpretation, only practical "how to do it" items.

Two band IR data analysis

This section covers the analysis and retrievals from thermal infrared data obtained by various sensors, including GOES, AVHRR and MODIS. It is based on instructions written by Dave Schneider in 1997.

If you have not done so already, we recommend that you start by taking the one hour exploration module.

TOMS data analysis

This section covers data analysis of TOMS (Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer) data for volcanic clouds, including sulfur dioxide and aerosol index.
