Sprod) To: djschnei@mtu.edu, ian@skye.gsfc.nasa.gov Subject: more Rabaul stuff Content-Length: 798 METEOR-3 TOMS OBSERVATIONS OF RABAUL ERUPTION PLUME Meteor-3 TOMS overflew the eruption plume from Rabaul, New Britain at 4:45am GMT on September 22, 1994. Preliminary results show SO2 column amounts up to a maximum of ~60 matm-cm in the vicinity of the volcano. The estimated size of the SO2 plume is 25,000km^2.
