Ruapehu Volcanic Activity 

Situation Summary

As of 0930h the following new information is available.

*     Enhanced seismic activity  continued through 0100h with a number of
volcanic earthquakes recorded30 September 1995. From 0100h to 0930h there
has been low- moderate level volcanic tremor but no discrete
eruption-related earthquakes.

*     No observations of the summit  have been made because conditions
were not suitable  for an early morning observation flight.

*     No reports of significant eruptions have been received. 

Conclusions and Alert status

The Alert Level for Ruapehu remains at Level 4.
