Personal Statement
- I guess I must be considered pretty much old-fashioned. I just can't seem
to understand why we spend so much time today learning about the natural
sciences from CD-roms and the Internet, when the real world is just outside
our "Windows." Working with the collections at the A.E. Seaman Mineral
Museum reconnects me with the real world of minerals. It provides a basis
and inspiration for teaching and research, and (please don't tell anyone) it
is just plain fun!
