Well: NPR #1 X-55-1

FRAME 1-22. Carneros? sandstone from Elk Hills field (NPR #1 X-55-1, 10448-64'). Note euhedral quartz overgrowths with detrital grain margins defined by dust rim and differential inclusion content. Quartz overgrowths were succeeded by coarse calcite cement. Field of view l.O5mm. Crossed Nicols.

FRAME 1-23. Carneros? sandstone from Elk Hills field (NPR #1, X-55-1, 10448-64'). Note euhedral quartz overgrowths which were succeeded by coarse calcite cement. Overgrowths are optically continuous with detrital grains but are defined by dust rims and differential inclusion content. Field of view 1.05mm. Crossed Nicols.

FRAME 1-24. Carneros? sandstone from Elk Hills field (NPR #1, X-55-1, 10448-64'). Note rhombic calcite? cement and isolated quartz overgrowths throughout photo. Sandstone displays a high degree of compaction and cementation. Field of view 2.lmm. Crossed Nicols.

FRAME 1-25. Carneros? sandstone from Elk Hills field (NPR #1, X-55-1, 10448-64'). Note patches of rhombic calcite? cement, isolated quartz overgrowths, fresh volcanic? plagioclase (center), and intermediate volcanic rock fragments (upper right, lower left). Field of view 2.lmm. Crossed Nicols.

FRAME 1-26. Media? sandstone from Elk Hills field (NPR #I, X-55-1, 9422-52'). Note abundant volcanic rock fragments and patches of calcite cement (upper right, lower left). Field of view 2.lmm. Crossed Nicols.

FRAME 1-27. Media? sandstone from Elk Hills field (NPR #1, X-55-1, 9422-52'). Note twinned microcline grain (lower left) and fine carbonate rhombs throughout sample. Field of view 2.lmm. Crossed Nicols.
