Michigan Tech Geology Professor John Gierke has been named one of three Michigan Distinguished Professors of the Year.

This a statewide award for all of Michigan. The President's Council of State Universities of Michigan initiated this award this year at the suggestion of the State Academic Officers, and today the recipients were announced.  Each of the Michigan public universities nominated one recipient and a committee of provosts made the selection of the three recipients.  John will be recognized and receive his award at a luncheon in June in Lansing.
